Two Authors Who Write about Egyptian Women & Girls Visiting USM

USM is hosting talks by two authors who write about Egyptian women’s and girls’ issues on Tuesday, March 15.  Both events are free and open to the public.

NAWAL EL SAADAWI
Egyptian novelist, feminist and human rights activist Nawal El Saadawi will speak on “The Egyptian Revolution: Creativity, Dissonance, and Women,” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 15 in Talbot Auditorium, in USM’s Luther Bonney Hall, Portland.  Saadawi is the author of numerous novels, including “The Fall of the Imam” and “Woman at Point Zero.” (more…)

Annual Job Fair at USM

USM’s Student Success Center, along with the Office of Internships and Career Placement, will host the 2011 Job Fair from 12 noon – 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 in the Sullivan Gym, Portland.  It is free and open to all students, alumni and the public.

Cyberwarfare Expert Rear Admiral William E. Leigher to Visit USM

Appleton, Maine native, USM graduate and one of the nation’s foremost military experts on cyber-security will visit the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday, March 8 and Wednesday, March 9 to meet with students, alumni, faculty and staff and the region’s business leaders. He will be the featured speaker at USM’s monthly Corporate Partners Breakfast on Wednesday, discussing “Cyber Threats and National Security.”

While visiting USM, he also will meet with computer science, ROTC, engineering, and political science students; join a roundtable about the development of a cyber security curriculum at USM, and will be the featured guest at a USM Alumni Association/Sigma Nu Fraternity reception. (more…)
