Lenny Shedletsky and student presented at conferences

LENNY SHEDLETSKY, professor of communication and media studies, presented “Can We Improve the Quality and Quantity of Online Discussion with Rubrics and Peer Rating?” at the 17th annual Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning in Orlando, Fla.  Shedletsky and a former student, ALICE GOODWIN, gave the same presentation, with six studies, at the Second New England Regional Sloan-C Conference on Online Learning in Portland in April 2011.

David Wagner’s book due out spring 2012

DAVID WAGNER, professor of sociology and social work, had his book, “The Miracle Worker and the Transcendentalist: Annie Sullivan, Franklin Sanborn and the Education of Helen Keller,” published by Paradigm Publishers.  The book will be published in paperback in Spring 2012.

Senator George Mitchell’s Wright Express lecture available on MPBN’s “Speaking in Maine”

The second annual Wright Express Leadership and Creativity Event Series presentation by Senator George Mitchell, “Understanding the Middle East and Its Significance on the World Stage,” was broadcast on MPBN’s “Speaking in Maine” series.  The lecture took place in USM’s Hannaford Lecture Hall and President Selma Botman joined the Senator on stage during his presentation.

USM business students patent winning product
