USM archaeologists mentioned in Malaga Island stories

USM archaeologists were mentioned in a September 17 Portland Press Herald article about Governor Baldacci’s apology to Malaga Island descendants for their ancestor’s eviction from the island.

Professor Robert Sanford and his team of archaeology students were mentioned specifically in a September 24 South Portland Sentry article for digging up artifacts on the island.

USM Team Attends Conference on Grant Funding

University of Southern Maine faculty and staff members attended a Grant Resource Center External Funding Conference to learn more about how to increase effective grant-seeking efforts across the institution. The conference, sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, featured national experts on federal budget and funding priorities, administrative perspectives on the grant-making process, and updates on program initiatives and regulations.
