JOHN WISE, professor and director of Maine Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health, HONG XIE, assistant research professor of applied medical sciences, W. DOUGLAS THOMPSON, chair and professor of epidemiology, and students SANDRA WISE, AMIE HOLMES, and QIN QIN, co-authored “Comparative Genotoxicity and Cytotoxicity of Four Hexavalent Chromium Compounds in Human Bronchial Cells” in Chemical Research in Toxicology (Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 365-372).  Also, Wise, Xie, and Thompson with student CAROLYNE LaCERTE co-authored “Depleted Uranium Induces Neoplastic Transformation in Human Lung Epithelial Cells” in Chemical Research in Toxicology (Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 373-378). Wise, ABOU EL-MAKARIM ABOUEISSA, assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, STEPHEN PELSUE, associate professor of immunology and molecular biology, and students Amie Holmes and Sandra Wise co-authored “Chronic Exposure to Zinc Chromate Induces Centrosome Amplification and Spindle Assembly Checkpoint Bypass in Human Lung Fibroblasts” in Chemical Research Toxicology (Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 386-395).

School of Music Faculty/Alumni Concert Featured on Public Radio

The Portland Jazz Orchestra was featured on MPBN’s “Friday Night Jazz” with Rich Tozier” on April 2.  PJO is directed by Director of Jazz Studies Chris Oberholtzer, who was is joined by his USM colleagues Doug Owens, Mark Manduca, and Craig Skeffington, and alumni Sean Potter, Kyle Hardy, Tom Michaud, and Larry Williams. Muskie Students Involved in City and East Bayside Neighborhood Organization
