USM to Host Book Signing by Novelist Jessica Shattuck

The University of Southern Maine will be hosting a book signing Thursday, August 20 at 5 p.m. in the USM Portland Bookstore for novelist Jessica Shattuck. Shattuck will make her only Maine appearance at USM to promote her recently released novel “Perfect Life.” USM’s Portland Bookstore is located in the Woodbury Campus Center, Bedford Street, Portland. Author of “The Hazards of Good Breeding” a New York Times Notable Book and Winship/PEN finalist, Shattuck’s work has also appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, Wired, Mother Jones, and Glamour. A 1994 Harvard graduate, Shattuck received her M.F.A. in writing from Columbia University in 2001. Other awards received by Shattuck are the 1999 Frank O’Connor Short Story Award for “The Wedding Guests,” and the 1994 Harvard College Briggs Fiction Prize. A native of New York, N.Y. Shattuck now resides in Cambridge, Mass.
