University of Maine System Board of Trustees Grants Tenure to USM Faculty Members

At its March 15 meeting, the University of Maine System Board of Trustees granted tenure and promotion to all the faculty members recommended by USM President Selma Botman. “These professors demonstrate superb qualities as educators in the classroom and scholars in their respective fields,” said Botman. “I congratulate our faculty and welcome them into the USM tenured professoriate.” The tenure and promotion decisions become effective September 2010.

Julie Alexandrin was granted tenure at rank of Associate Professor of Professional Education.

Julie Canniff was granted tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Teacher Education.

Clare Bates Congdon was granted early tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Computer Science.

Douglas Currie was granted tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Biological Sciences.

Kreg Ettenger was granted tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Geography and Anthropology.

Christine Galbraith was granted tenure and promotion to Professor of Law.

Carol Nemeroff was granted early tenure and promotion to Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Jason Read was granted tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Philosophy.

Deirdre Smith was granted tenure and promotion to Professor of Law.
