Responding to the Crisis in Haiti
January 15, 2010
Many people from USM are wondering what they might do to help the people of Haiti who are experiencing unspeakable destruction and immeasurable personal loss. Our community grieves for the loss of life and is saddened to learn of the countless people who have been injured and rendered destitute.
Recognizing that reconstruction will be slow and painful, those who are able to contribute to the recovery should do so. The Center for International Disaster Information (www.cidi.org), recommends monetary contributions to established relief agencies as the most useful response to the destruction. Please find a list of agencies below.
Every dollar will ease the agony of those suffering from homelessness, infection, hunger and the shortages of the every-day necessities. In times of need, the compassion and selflessness of our community emerge. Thank you for anything you can do to help. Selma Botman
