Student EMail accounts now hosted by Google

During the summer of 2009, all student email accounts were migrated from the Horde/IMAP system to Google Apps, Google’s web-based email, calendar, and document service. Students can now access their email, calendars, and documents from a web browser. They can share and collaborate in new ways and to store large amounts of information on Google’s service. This is a giant leap in services for students at no cost to the University.
A few quick notes about the changes:
- Student email addresses do not change as a result of this switch to Google Apps, they remain @maine.edu.
- Students will continue to log into email with their UMaine System Username and password.
- There are no ads nor is the data used for marketing purposes with Google Apps for education
Students can manage their UMaine System accounts at http://mail.maine.edu. E-mail access is at http://gmail.maine.edu, calendar athttp://calendar.maine.edu, and documents at http://docs.maine.edu. Updates and FAQs are on the web at http://mail.maine.edu.
